Ups and downs.

The way this week is going ( such great behaviour from my boys ) I really do feel like our bad week was just a bad dream. The chart is working great, just what I wanted an needed.

Last week though, I did have trouble trying to get my blue eyes to Kindy. His wonderful teacher asked me to go in today and bake a cake with all the kiddies. They are teachers for reasons. Best idea ever. Blue eyes was so super excited about it. And is very much back into liking Kindy.

All the kiddies swarmed me while I was there.. They are at the age that if you give them attention they LOVE you and the girls pretty much sit on you. I had one gorgeous girl dusting off the spilt sugar off my pants..

There a few special needs kiddies there and the teachers are so patient in spreading their time evenly amongst them all. The routine they have is fantastic that the ones that do need some extra reminding already know what's coming next, so understand. A true testament to how much all kids need routine.

Cowboy turns 6 next week .. Sheesh!! I'm organizing his bday party. With school friends. Pirates are the theme. Photos will be shared. Just trying to figure out what to get him.. Lol

Where has the time gone!

Getting closer!

We are on the home stretch, only 3 more sleeps and Ben will be home!

He worked the weekend just gone, 2 weeks is a very long time without him .. Hence, some misbehavior from the 2 little boys!

They are doing much better now we've got the board going. Just doing silly little smarty pants tactics towards each other now. Lol.

I'm on permanent baby sitting duties for our niece on Monday's and Tuesday's now. Blue eyes and I love it! They are so cute to watch together. They are the same age, but blue eyes tries to pull the I'm older than you card, but little miss pulls him up! They have many tiffs during the day over silly things, and I get caught out giggling over them hehe.

I caught them not long ago, hugging each other and making up! They are best friends again! They grabbed each others hands twirled around singing, we are best friends again! Hehehehe cutie pies!! They are both very tired, it's almost constant play. Cowboy will be tired too, he's learning a lot more during the school hours now. I'm sure there will be fighting this afternoon.. I'll have to keep them all occupied! Lol.

Behaviour.

I've been having a little bit of trouble during the week, mainly with the school boy. In keeping his behaviour in check .. He hasn't necessarily been naughty, just doing and saying "silly" things that I'd rather him not do. As the younger one follows suit.

Ben is going to be working some weekends over the next few weeks, so instead of letting it get out of control and me end up with no hair. We've devised a special system. Cowboy came up with idea after I said the scooters will get taken away if anyone is naughty.

I built on his idea today and made a behavior board. 5 crosses in one day and something is taken away, toy, tv time, scooter etc. 5 ticks in one day For doing extra good helpful things for me will get extra time scootering of an afternoon, extra tv time or a special treat. Mummy and daddy get to decide what they get or don't get. And the boys have to move the ticks or crosses themselves so it gives it a little more meaning ... I hope it helps! Lol time will tell I guess!!

Blue eyes has a bad head cold at the moment and I'm trying my best not to get it... I'm not sure I've completely dodge the bullet yet, but so long as we are all sleeping good at night I should be ok! The sun is shining and should be over the weekend yay!!! And Ben has to work booooo!! The boys were looking forward to going fishing in the boat this weekend. They weren't very pleased with the thought of me taking them to fish off the beach.. Don't know why I've caught more fish than Ben lately ;-) hehe!!

Winter chills.

We've had some dreary wet weather lately, and the sickness has set in. Everyone bar me so far has had the dreaded head cold. Ben was bordering on the flu. But worked thru it.

Our blue eyes is currently laying on top of me on the lounge. He's all blocked up and has a cough. Poor boy, went to Kindy yesterday, but 6 hrs of constant playing took its toll and he's having a rest day. Not sure if he'll go tomorrow either.

I've been pacing myself, the lack of sleep slowly bulging my eyes out of my head .. Haha! Snuggles on the lounge is the best place to be right now.. Rest for all so the rest (me!) don't get sick too!!!

The sun is out today... Thankfully, so the warmth is wonderful!! :-) :-)

Interesting week.

After such a wonderful time away all of last week, once I'd dropped cowboy off at school on Monday I couldn't get the car to start... Uh - oh...

I got some help from school mums dropping me home and back to my cat once I'd organized racq.. But guess what the car did when he got there.. Started first go. Grumble!

I drove it too a friends place to have a much needed coffee and our boys to have a play. Upon leaving the car wouldn't start again. Oh dear.

I walked home. My friend picked cowboy up from school then me and I got the car to start. Drove it home. Booked in to a mechanic. Found some sensor problems. Got prices on them.

So we had an expected amount as to how much it would cost incl labour..

Eh wrong.. $706 later the car is fixed.. Reason being our car has everything hidden and it takes mechanics forever to take parts out to get where they need to work.. Point being we are definetly now going to work on getting a better more manageable (in all ways) car!!

Here's hoping for a better weekend! Even tho it's looking like cruddy weather, Ben is home so possibly a movie and snuggly cuddle weekend on the lounge!! :-)

Home again..

This week we've been from Moore Park to Gympie .. Back to Moore Park .. Then to Gladestone ... To Rockhampton ... And back to Moore Park today! The last tripping around was to visit Ben. He had a boys night watching a fight night. 2 weeks without seeing Ben is a very long time.

I'm glad to be home, exhausted, missing Ben already, but very contented with our exploring for the week :-)

Road trip!!!!!!

Tomorrow we are off to Gympie!! Can't wait to be back at my mumma's house!!

Hopefully i'll get to visit some friends as well as the 2 sets of grandparents.. If I organize my time well enough. It's easy just to sit and talk with the grandies and loose track of time!! But that's also what's so good about visiting. Granny and pa will be taking us to see the Maleny Dairy.. I can't wait for that!!

Off to bed now. Up early to send Ben off to work.

Sunshine!

The sun is shining, our lil flowers are wiggling and the grasshopper jumping!

Its school holidays, so I'm doing the housework still in my pj's ;-)..... But soon I will need to change so we can go have a play on our beautiful beach!!

Oh Ben is home tonight as well!! Yay!!

Sickness is still plaguing the boys, but are on the mend slowly.. The sunshine helps and them helping themselves to food all the time... A very good sign of them feeling better!!

Coffee and Panadol = My Savior.

Last night was a trip down memory lane... Blue eyes had his 4yr immunizations on Monday... It took over 24hrs but the side affects to hit him.. I noticed he wasn't his normal self in the afternoon. But he crashed on the lounge ( not unusual for him) before I could dose him up..

Our little devil has a massive habit of being perfectly fine ALL day then of a night time he'll develop a high temp(and with high temps possible febrile convulsions ).. Which is what happened last night. I spent the first half tossing and turning deliberating whether or not I should wake him and give him the medicine to help nip it in the but.... Or so long as his asleep it stays dormant.. Well he woke just after midnight.. With his temp sitting at 38c his magic number being 39c, and he obviously feeling lowsy was more than happy for me to give him, as he calls it the bum Panadol.. (had to chuckle at midnight at that, helped lighten the mood lol). We snuck into my bed together with the air cool enough to help the temp, warded off any imminent convulsion! Yay!

Although was well after 1am before we both settled back into a good sleep.. Hence coffee and Panadol for me today.. And not much else.. We've got a ring-in again today, 3 boys, but the ring-in is the eldest and oh so wonderful at keeping the boys entertained :-)

The temp has subsided, like usual during the day.. He's not 100% tho. So will be making sure he's got some medicine in him before going to bed tonight..

It's also been raining for about 5 days now... Yuk! We managed to duck down to the beach today for a play and some mummy and blue eyes funny photos.. ;-). Cowboy has a head cold and so does Ben.. So I'm doing my best to keep the germies away... Fingers crossed for sunshine tomorrow to get rid of the germs!!

End of term!

School holidays Whoooooo!!!! Lol!!

Cowboys last 2 days of the school term were huge! Sports day yesterday and an end of term performance today. I've got photos of each saved on the laptop. Will post them over the weekend!

We have got portfolios home for both the boys this term, cowboys is wrapped in a wonderful picture.. We will leave it to open when Ben gets home.. It's hard for Ben not seeing the day to day schooling being away, so thought I'd share it by letting him read how well our big boy is doing first!

And blue eyes today blew me away! He wrote his own name! I didn't believe the Kindy teacher at first.. Really, our boy can piece that together in his little brain already! Wow! He did a great job too! I thought the teacher may have been making him feel good about his drawing.. Lol.. Poor boy! He's doing bigger boy things all the time now! I got to start giving him more credit for the wonderful things he is achieving!

Ben is on his way home right now!! Yay!! Can't wait for some cuddles!!

Busy, busy!

This week is a 3 day Kindy week, which means lots of driving in and out of town.. But I still manage to get my jobs done.

Today I made my own lil handbag, it's very cute! Not perfect but it's perfect for me!! The last couple of days I've sewn some more sets of Snak Sac's, I love them I really do! I even had my naturopath tell me today to start selling them lol!!

Which reminds me, I'm so very much back on track to a very healthy and happy ME! Meredith (naturopath) is so pleased at how well I stuck to our goal. I've finished with the special herbal tonic... Witch craft tonic is what Ben calls it lol!! Just gotta keep up with my good eating, my me time, and relaxing play times at the beach or the park with the boys!! Yep, I think I can manage that!! Throw in a little yoga, fishing and walking on the side ;-).

Tomorrow is Sports Day for Cowboy, we are very excited! I love sports days!! He is in Burnett house it's Blue. And he's been practicing their war cry ALL week!! So cute!!

Wait..What?!

So it seems I had a whinge over nothing! My food bags.. Which I've now called Snak Sac's.. Have generated a little interest and want amongst a few of my friends.. Which shows to me, I feel with a lil effort and marketing (as in advertising and going to a market or 2) they might take off.. Then I might be able to add my other things I love to make... Hmmmm food for thought!
I'll have to get sewing.. I've made one set, but need to make at least another 2 of that fabric. Shown below and I've also got 3 other fabrics to make sets up with too! My gosh!!! The hardest part I would have to say is choosing the girly fabrics.. Having boys I am a lot more boy orientated than girl... But it is a lot of fun :-) :-)

A little left of center.

I've always known that I'm not quite the same / into the same things as the "norm" of society is... And now I'm proving it more than ever.. Just because I like it and enjoy making it doesn't mean the rest of society will..

Makes it very difficult for me. As I would love nothing more than to be able to make and sell something I love, around the boys being at school. But finding that something to base a small business on is proving difficult..

I'm putting it down to me being too advanced in my thinking for what society can handle right now ;-p
But seriously I can't be the only "green" thinking person out there, can I?!

I've fallen in love with the food bags I made the boys.. But am really unsure if they would sell.. Their purpose, to wash and re-use.. Less plastic.. Is that a to hard basket for today?! Is plastic the easier option?!

Ps. Had a great long weekend away, very wet And windy, but enjoyed great company!!

Cutting out more plastic!

In an effort to cut out plastic in the lunch boxes I've been trying to find a good pattern for fabric reusable food bags. I finally found one on my favourite website, pinterest!

4 have been made so far! With plenty more on the horizon!! They are so good and easy to make!!

We are off for a mini holiday tomorrow. Ben has a 4 day weekend, so we decided to go to Woodgate. A small coastal town a little south of us.. Of course we have to go somewhere, where we can fish!! Friends and some family will be there too!!

Weekend craft.

The weather wasn't the greatest on the weekend. Ben had to work on Saturday too... So we did some crafty things.

I fixed a bag I made, sewd the strap in properly.. Made a Peggy bookmark paperclip, and the boys chose wooden letters for their initials of their first name to paint!! They had alot if fun painting them too.

Frustration..

I've got the sad sacks / frustrating mental block today... It doesn't happen very often anymore, which I'm really happy about.. But there are days where I just can't process WHY the boys do what they do and I can't move past it..( like making the milo I clearly asked them not to. Only to have milo all over the kitchen floor :-/) The brain melts down and not alot gets done.. Grumpy mummy arises and blue eyes plays on it and keeps the antics up.. Grr!! Lol!!

Yesterday was a show holiday here, blue eyes has no Kindy this week because of it, the prospect of Ben not coming home until saturday after a long week.. Blue eyes waking well before the sun every day this week and relapsing into major hair twiddling of my hair... Hmmm that's just to mention a few..

Gee I feel a little better now... Sound like a whinger, but... We all need to do it every so often..

Our week started so extra well too.. I even got to catch up with an old school friend. She's moved back to Bundy. It was so great to see her.. A familiar face! She has 2 gorgeous little girls!

Our niece is coming for a sleepover tomorrow night! We are all excited!! The SIL is going to dinner with her gf's. It will be a little strange, I've never babysat overnight before. But we will have some fun!

My little blue eyed gardener helped me plant some seeds today. Basil and rosemary. And tend to our parsley.

Oh you Cress Head!

Last Thursday Blue Eyes did a lot of gardening at Kindy. All the kiddies planted some herbs and veggies and they made a worm farm with 1200 worms!! Lol.

They also planted a heap of Cress seeds in a decorated cup! As you can see its growing great guns!! Blue eyes is very pleased with his gardening efforts!! :-) xo

Keeping the troops happy!

When we go fishing I never know how much food we'll eat.. So I practically pack the whole pantry!! But it's all good yummy food :-).

Under 8's fun day!

Today was a special day at Cowboys School. Under 8's fun day. Lots of activities set up and run by the grade 7's. It was so full on and full of fun I only took 2 photos.... At the necklace making stand... Although they spent most of the time eating the fruit loops!! Lol!! We played with goop, bubbles, paints, balloons. On obstacle courses, police car, rural fire brigade truck with hose going spraying water, surf life saving boat! And that was only half of it!! Blue eyes is buggered, can't imagine how the school kids will get thru the rest of the school day!! But it's Friday!! Yay!! Ben is home tonight!! Can't wait :-) xo

Sniffle time.. Yuk!

The cute monster in the photo and his older brother are sharing their snot around the house.. Too ME!! Just slight head colds at this stage.. The wonderful sniffly times of winter are a coming! And with both associating with lots of other kiddies... We are bound to get sniffly this year.. Ugh!

Getting my collection going!

Added a tall spaghetti jar to my glass jar collection / new obsession! I need more... Lol.

You can tell I'm a bit of a mixed bag by the handful of jars I have... Only 2 match!! Haha!!

Also purchased myself a basic sewing machine today. Very happy with it. Will be trying to get it going later today after I pick up the boys..

Missing my gardening..

We went to Gympie for the weekend, for mothers day and to do some gardening at our house. It was so lovely to see everyone and garden hehe!!

It was mainly weeding, but when I've got no edible garden to nurture up here I miss it!

I came home with a parsley plant, that was planted not long before we left, so far it's surviving ( I've got something to nurture now ;-)) and some (garbage bag full) of basil cuttings.. To show how much I'm missing plants, I just picked all the basil leaves off so I can dry and use them.. Ben thinks I'm crazy, but I'm sure he would have done the same if my dad wasn't around!! Lol oh and some of our ceramic pots.. They are just begging me to fill them with herbs too!!

Today is a rest day, after a big weekend and a 3am wake up to send off for Ben then back up at 6am for the day. Motivation is lacking. Lol. I get the enjoyable jobs done on Monday's!!

Pampering!

Cowboy had s special job today, all the preps had their mummies in to school for morning tea and some spoiling.

It started with a hand soak, then hand massages with moisturizing cream. Then a neck, shoulder and back massage. All the while scented candles were burning in the classroom and beautiful music was playing.

Before we left, we all got to sit on the carpet with our prep for some big snuggles while more beautiful songs were played!

Perfect! Love my big boy!

Toothbrush holder.

My little blue eyes broke the toothbrush holder last week... So instead of buying another nice ceramic one. I made one, well decorated it myself!

I've been collecting glass jars, so used a small one of those, fabric, string and glue.. Glueing the string on with the hot glue gun was the hardest part.. It won't win any prizes, but it's jazzed up a glass jar. I'm happy, and the boys like it!

School and Kindy for the boys tomorrow! Yay for a little peace and stillness in the house for a few hours!

Today I baked up a storm, Choc Zucchini Cake, Milo Cookies, Savoury Biscuits and Piklets. All of which gets frozen and used when ever a hungry need arises!

The Savoury Biscuits are a recent discovery and will post the recipe soon for it. It's very easy!

Ben is now making some dips for our afternoon snacks and tonight we are off to the Bowls Club for dinner. $10 for adults and $5 for the kids... Can't go wrong for an easy Sunday night dinner!
